
Biography
I am Professor of Finance at the UCD School of Business. Prior to joining University College Dublin I worked in financial services for a decade as a portfolio manager and quantitative analyst.
My research interests are in empirical finance, including asset allocation, aviation finance, FinTech, financial stability and risk management. My research papers have been published in top finance journals including the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Econometrics, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Financial Stability and Journal of Empirical Finance. I am associate editor for the European Journal of Finance and International Review of Financial Analysis, and a review editor for the Frontiers journal, Artificial Intelligence in Finance.
Previous visiting research positions include the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and Simon Fraser University. I have been a Principal Investigator with the Science Foundation Ireland funded ADAPT FinTech Fusion Spoke and a funded investigator with the Financial Mathematics and Computation Cluster. I was also a recipient of a prestigious New Horizons Research Grant from the Irish Research Council and a Dobbin Scholarship.
I am the founding academic Director for the UCD MSc in Aviation Finance, where we seek to train the next generation of leaders in this fast-developing space. My current teaching interests are in Aviation Finance and Corporate Finance, while I have previously taught a range of modules at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA levels. I recently developed a new specialist module on Aviation Finance for the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), delivered to students from Yale, Berkeley, Fudan, HKUST, UBC and National University of Singapore, among others. My contribution to teaching has been recognized by the UCD School of Business with Excellence in Teaching awards in 2017 and 2019.
